Naviance for college applications
Log in to your school's Naviance site and go to the "Colleges" tab to build your "Colleges I'm Applying To" list. After adding colleges, match your accounts with Common App if necessary, then request transcripts and recommendation letters from your counselor or teachers through the platform. Finally, remember to update your application status and decisions within Naviance.
1. Log in and Find Your Colleges
- Log in to your school's specific Naviance portal.
- Navigate to the Colleges tab and select Colleges I'm Applying To.
- Use the search or add college features to find and add the schools you are interested in.
2. Match Accounts (if applicable)
- If you are using the Common App, www.commonapp.org you will need to match your Naviance and Common App accounts.
- Look for a banner on your Naviance page that says "Match Accounts" and follow the prompts to enter your Common App email and date of birth.
3. Request Materials
- Once your colleges are listed, you can request transcripts and letters of recommendation.
- Transcripts: Click "Add to My List" or "Add and Request Transcript" to initiate the request for your transcript to be sent to each college.
- Recommendation Letters: Before asking, talk to your teacher in person and provide them with a resume or brag sheet. Then, select the teacher from the drop-down list in the "Letters of Recommendation" section.
4. Track and Update Applications
- After you've applied, you can track your application status.
- For each college on your list, update the application type (e.g., Common App, Directly to Institution).
- After receiving a decision, edit the college's entry and record the outcome (Accepted, Denied, etc.) in the "Result" section.
If you need any help, please remember that your school counselor is always here for you.
